Staveley
Robyn has over a decade of experience in defence and security across government, parliament and the third sector. She advises clients on navigating the defence ecosystem, leveraging her deep understanding of government processes, parliamentary procedures, geopolitical dynamics, and industry challenges.
Robyn is an Associate Director in the UK Politics and Policy team at Global Counsel. Over the last fifteen years, Robyn has worked as a Special Adviser in the UK Ministry of Defence, the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, the Cabinet Office, and the Home Office. She was also responsible for setting up Help for Heroes’ government relations and policy function, and ran communications for a leading think tank in Westminster. She was also a communications consultant for The Royal Foundation - the philanthropic vehicle of the Prince and Princess of Wales – and worked in both the Scottish and UK parliaments after her Postgraduate degree in International Security.
At GC, Robyn helps clients navigate the evolving, and increasingly salient, defence landscape – whether that’s understanding government priorities, engaging effectively with policymakers, or positioning for success in a changing industrial environment.
Recent examples of her work include:
- Helping clients navigate the Strategic Defence Review (SDR) and Defence Industrial Strategy, with a focus on major programmes, procurement reforms, and the evolving landscape of digitisation and modernisation.
- Providing insight into the likely priorities for the Armed Forces, including future capability requirements, industrial partnerships, and opportunities for market entry.
- Analysing defence policy developments in the US and Europe to identify risks and opportunities for defence companies and investors, ensuring they stay ahead of geopolitical shifts and government decision-making timelines.
