Global Counsel wins Political Due Diligence category at the Private Equity Awards 2022
We're delighted that Global Counsel has been chosen as the winner in the Political Due Diligence category at the Private Equity Awards 2022, hosted by leading industry publication and events producer Real Deals.
The award is testimony to the hard work of so many members of the Global Counsel team, who contribute their insight and support to investments that are crucial to the growth of the UK, European and global economy. Colleagues from nine separate GC practices – including Health, Climate and Sustainability, TMT and Financial Services – contributed to PDD projects in 2021, in addition to expert advisers across our international network of offices in Washington DC, Brussels, Doha, and Singapore.
We are grateful to all our clients, and to Real Deals, for recognising the growing importance of politics and regulation to making better deals and unlocking new opportunities in a competitive market.
Benjamin Wegg-Prosser, co-founder and managing director of Global Counsel, said: "Political due diligence for mid-market and large cap private equity dealmakers is the backbone of our work with investors worldwide. Our team has developed this product over a decade to make it increasingly vital for risk mitigation and value creation. This award is further evidence of Global Counsel's value and importance to the investment cycle."
Tom King, Global Counsel's practice lead for political due diligence, added: "Political volatility has only increased, with a series of major events - Brexit, Covid-19, and now Russia's invasion of Ukraine - allied to long term trends that threaten the relatively stable post-war order. At the same time, private markets go from strength to strength, partly because deal makers and fund managers are serious about understanding risk and opportunity. It's a privilege to be part of that process and to make a small contribution to investments that employ thousands of people in the UK and beyond."
