GC advises Apiary Capital on its investment in Access Creative College

LONDON, 17th Septemcer 2020 - Global Counsel (GC) has advised Apiary Capital, a specialist mid-market private equity firm, on its investment in Access Creative College, the UK’s largest specialist provider of education in the creative industries to 16-19-year olds. GC provided comprehensive political due diligence analysing the policy landscape around further education, including funding and regulation.

Access delivers vocational education in the creative industries to over 3,000 students at campuses in major cities across England. It offers courses in computing, games, media, music and events at specialist campuses in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, York, Lincoln, Norwich and at other locations with partnership providers. The college prepares young people for careers in the creative industries through innovative, practical employment-led training. It also provides creative sector apprenticeships across England through a partnership with the National College of Creative Industries (“NCCI”).

The creative industries are a jewel in the UK’s crown, and at a time when vocational education and training are rising in importance – not least in the context of the covid-19 pandemic – Apiary’s investment will help this leading provider see through its ambitious expansion plans under CEO Jason Beaumont. Jo Johnson, the former Minister of State for Universities, has joined as board chairman.
