Governing in the time of covid-19

In-conversation with Governor Jeb Bush, former Governor of Florida, 2016 Republican presidential candidate and founder of Foundation for Excellence in Education. Governor Bush began on the topic of criminal justice and police reform in America assessing whether we have reached a pivotal moment and also where the reform could come from within the US. Peter Mandelson, Chairman, Global Counsel, put further questions on the increasing prominence of business involvement on policy issues and whether there is a greater risk for brands in staying quiet on social issues. The event then moved to the topic of the covid-19 crisis and whether the digital divide that we have witnessed could generate structural unemployment for the United States. Transitioning from unemployment to education, Governor Bush moved to looking at what education might look like going forward as well as where the investment could come from. The event concluded with the speakers view on the future of the republican party this decade.
