Jannis advises corporate and investor clients on regulatory and political risk, and how to engage with stakeholders in Germany and the EU, focusing on tech policy, health policy, digital markets, and platform work.

Jannis is an Associate in Global Counsel’s team in Germany with a speciality in German labour policy and platform regulation. Before joining GC, Jannis worked as a consultant in a public policy boutique consultancy in Berlin. Jannis previously worked as a labour market researcher for IZA in Bonn, a research institute for labour economics. There, he co-published several papers, such as a comparative analysis of national unemployment benefit schemes and an analysis on the effects of minimum wage in Germany.

Recent examples of his work include:

  • Advising a PE firm seeking to invest in the health sector with a political due diligence to help them assess and mitigate political and regulatory risk.
  • Creating a Germany-specific engagement strategy for a major international AI company, including organising meetings with Tier 1 stakeholders in the most relevant ministries.
  • Providing a client with in-depth analysis into critical infrastructure legislation, including cybersecurity infrastructure.
