Michaela is an Associate in the Political Due Diligence Team. Michaela graduated from the University of Exeter with a first class honours degree (BSc) in Politics and International Relations. She has also worked for the university as a researcher. 

At Global Counsel, Michaela works in the political due diligence practice, focusing on helping investors understand and mitigate political risk around acquisitions. Her role encompasses research, elite interviewing and strategic advice. She works alongside the wider UK team to help clients navigate political and regulatory change.  Michaela also provides support on data analysis and visualisations across Global Counsel. 

Recent examples of her work include:  

  • Supporting a big tech company in understanding current e-commerce regulations in the UK and the likelihood of future regulatory changes, particularly with regards to the Modern Slavery Act and the best practice supply chain due diligence an ESG guidance. 
  • Advising an investor on the policy risks and opportunities in the UK higher education space, especially around the Disabled Students’ Allowance.
  • Supporting an investor in understanding the main drives behind the medical communications market in the UK, Japan and the EU, including policy maker support for R&D and the impact of trade and regulation on the growth trajectory for the pharmaceuticals market.
